A Mile In My Shoes promotes empathy through reading. D25 has carefully selected 12 summer reading options that give students an opportunity to read about different perspectives and life experiences: a horrific storm that left a community and nation in shambles, bullying, illness, race relations, a terrorist attack, relocation, the foster care system, immigration and much more.

Parents should be advised that the following books have some mature content or

Dear Parents,

We know not every book appeals to every student. Additional book recommendations can be found here. This list was compiled when we began planning A Mile In My Shoes. Although these titles didn't make our final list they fall nicely under the theme of building understanding and empathy. While we are suggesting the 12 titles, truth be told, we want kids to READ. Students are encouraged to choose one and then KEEP READING.

We appreciate your role in helping your child make book selections.

In addition, we'd like to encourage students to explore the AHML Summer Reading Program.

Thank You,

D25 Middle School Staff
