Welcome to Spanish Class!
In an increasingly globalized world, learning a second language is not just a useful skill to connect with other cultures--it's a way of being exposed to new ideas and concepts that can make us better global citizens.
My Spanish classes provide a space to learn language and culture in a way that is meaningful and readily applicable to everyday life!
Teaching Philosophy and Classroom Expectations
I believe the best way to learn is by engaging with a hands-on curriculum that's tailored to meet every learning style. As they saying goes, "practice makes proficient" so we will take every opportunity we have to exercise our language skills in practical, real-life scenarios.
Students are expected to be on time, ready for class with all their school supplies, and to participate in classroom discussions and activities. There will not be homework assignments, so their engagement in the classroom is essential for their success.
The use of electronic devices, with the exception of school-provided laptops, is not allowed. Students are expected to leave their cell phones, wireless earbuds, and other devices in their lockers during the school day. Any student found with an electronic device in the classroom will be issued a disciplinary referral.
Eduardo "Ed" Brussa
I was born and raised in Uruguay, South America. After graduating form high school, I relocated to the United States to attend college and eventually graduated with a BBA in Music Business and an MAT in Secondary Education from Trevecca Nazarene University (Nashville, TN).
Over the years, I have worked as a music producer, composer, and educator. In 2024 I began teaching Spanish at Whiting High School and am very excited to have the opportunity to share my first language with our kids!
