Rio Rico High School’s Hawk Theatre Company

Welcome To “Our Town”

Jade Knight as the Stage Manger

The Hawk Theatre Company is proud to announce that we will be bringing the classic story of “Our Town” by Thornton Wilder to the RRHS stage this November. “Our Town” tells the story of life in turn of the 20th century Grover’s Corner, New Hampshire where we learn about its townsfolk and their daily lives. A character known as the Stage Manager narrates through the people’s lives and the town affairs as well as an important moment in the lives of the Webb and the Gibbs family.

High School Theatre Director, Joseph Ellison, describes the play as an American classic that has always played a part in theatre history. He states, “When deciding what pieces to add to the season rotation I always look for something challenging, classic and relatable. “Our Town” is all about finding your way in the world as seen through the eyes of a small town life. The characters are the people you see every day from churchgoers to the family owned storefronts, the town doctor, and even the local teachers. There was no doubt in my mind that this piece would play well in our community where we are just as those characters in the sense that we all know each other and every job we do is important to our neighbors and our town. Our students work very hard creating every design and executing all details in order to bring an amazing production to the stage and I feel that our audiences are in for an amazing journey of life, love, and the sorrow of death as our students bring this timeless tale to life once again.”

“Our Town” will be taking place on Friday November 2nd at 6:30 p.m. and Saturday November 3rd with a matinee at 1:00 p.m. and evening showing at 6:30 p.m. Doors will open 20 minutes before each performance. Ticket prices for Santa Cruz Valley Unified School District 35 staff/faculty and students are $8.00 and all other general admissions is $10.00. This production will be taking place in the Rio Rico High School Cafeteria/Auditorium. Tickets can be purchased at the door forty minutes before each show time and at the RRHS Bookstore starting mid October.
