The Swinging 20’s is Back at RRHS!

Rio Rico High School’s Hawk Theatre Company

The Hawk Theatre Company presents “Thoroughly Modern Millie,” a perfectly hilarious evening of madcap merriment March the 29th and 30th at Rio Rico High School.

Based on the 1967 Academy Award-winning film and the winner of six Tony Awards, “Thoroughly Modern Millie” takes you back to the height of the Jazz Age in New York City, when “moderns” were bobbing their hair and rewriting the rules of love. This high-spirited musical romp is a delightful love letter to the long-standing spirit of New York City and the people who seek to discover themselves there.

Set in 1922, we are centered on the story of Millie Dillmount, a young girl from Kansas, who comes to New York City in search of a new life. Her master plan is to find a job as a secretary for a wealthy man and then marry him. However, her plan goes completely awry. Director Joseph Ellison encourages audiences to get ready for an exciting performance filled with flappers, dashing men, and a villainess that audiences will love to hate.

The Hawk Theatre Company is the Theatre Department at RRHS. Our ensemble is made of students from the district that oversees in the complete theatre process from designing to building. We pride ourselves on the student’s hard work and push them to become brilliant thespians and creative young adults. We hope you can make it out to see their work.
