ELAC & School Site Council Meeting Notes 2017-2018

ELAC

-DACA: over 20,000 students in Santa Clara County, the district has resources for

parents, applications can be renewed

-My Name, My Identity: we have over 50 languages in our district, the campaign

promotes valuing identities and names

-Coming Up: the replacement to the CELDT testing (info for parents)

Parent Resource Center: Wilson (on Benton) has resources for parents: translation,

DACA, food, health concerns

Mrs. Erickson and Footsteps to Brilliance (K-3)

-Colored Levels: emergent (pre-K to K), developing (1 to 2) and independent (2-3)

readers

-Library, Games, Writing

-games are build into the reading library

-can click on words in the books to say them

-games work on phonics skills and grammar

SSC

-Data: looking at CAASP from last year

-SOAR, dreambox, footsteps, literacy interventionist, and other resources are

in place to help support students and raise test scores

-too many students not reaching standards… how to target and help

students? How do we find the kids that need help? Grade level teams examine data

and find students and areas of concern, then decide ways to support students

-How do parents get CAASP score from last year? Contact the office for

assistance

-November: begining to look at SPSA (plan for student achievement), looking for

ways to support students and spend/use our resources, we need more parent

involvement to help create the plan

-Ways to reach out to parents: Donuts with Dr. T, Harvest Festival, poster, flyers,

word of mouth, teachers promoting… ALL Ideas are Welcome… making sure to

include morning announcements

-Google Classroom for SSC: everyone can join and access content… possibly a

google website to display all info
