Create an outline in the Scrible Library

Choose the Outline tab in your library.

Confirm you are working with the correct citation style.  This can be changed in the Bibliography tab.

Click on + Create or drag an annotation from the Add from Sources sidebar to begin your outline.

Begin typing in the text box to the right of the Roman numeral 1.

Hit the return key to add the next main point.

The Roman numeral 2 auto-populates.

Using the context menu for subpoints

If your outline includes subpoints and sub-subpoints, use the indent icon from the context menu.

The return key defaults to the next number or letter in the same section.

The + icon creates a new point, based on where the context menu is currently open.

When using the delete function, use caution and make sure the context menu is lined up with the point/subpoints you actually want to remove

The trash can icon removes the current point and any subpoints, and we do not currently have an undo function for the outline. *stay tuned

Move a point and subpoints with the outdent icon

Move a section of the outline with the cross arrows icon

To move a section of the outline, make sure the context menu is next to the section you're moving and press down on the cross arrows icon.

As you move the text in different directions, Scrible auto-populates suggestions.

In this example, we click on the cross arrows next to B: The role of landscape to drag and drop that section into subpoint A.

Include annotations in the outline

Open the Add from Sources sidebar with either the sidebar button or the button under the Annotations tab.

Use the search bar or scroll through sources to locate annotations in the Add from Sources sidebar.

Simply drag and drop annotations from the sidebar into the outline.

Inline citations are included with the annotations in the outline.

To remove a citation, hover over the entry and click on the x

Click on the copy button to copy the outline to the clipboard.

*Alternative option: use the Scribe Writer Add-on in Google Docs or Scrible Writer Add-on in Microsoft Word.
