Year Four Art Club
Our Year Four children have been getting creative in Art Club this half term. They have created 3D models of fish inspired by the art work of American artist Joseph Tomelleri. First, the children worked in teams to create the 'skeleton' of the fish using cardboard. Then, they packed out the body of the fish using newspaper before getting messy with the papier-mâché to create the skin. Finally, they used their colour mixing skills to replicate the detailed patterns of their chosen fish.
Year Five visit The Ferens Gallery
In July, our Year Five children visited The Ferens Art Gallery for a 'self-portrait masterclass' with their resident artist. They had the opportunity to study the famous works of art on display in the gallery before working with Louise to develop their portraiture skills. The children practised observing their partners face, while completing a continuous line drawing. They then swapped to their non-dominant hand to complete the same task, with some much funnier results!
A sample of their work is proudly displayed in the KS2 hall.
Spring Cottage Art Exhibition 2023
Thank you so much for your support at our second 'Spring Cottage Art Exhibition' in June. The turn out was fantastic and we raised over £600 to put towards new art materials for the children. We hope your child's masterpiece is hung pride of place in your home and they feel just like a 'real' artist!

Year Two Art Club
In Art club, our Year Two children have studied the work of Georgia O'Keefe, an American modernist painter who studied natural forms. The children explored a variety of materials, including paints, oil pastels and chalks to create flowers that were inspired by O'Keefe's work. We think they're blooming lovely!
Year Six Art Club
In Art club, our Year Six children followed their own interests and decided to use birds as the inspiration behind their art work. Each week, they chose a different media that they would like to explore, including acrylic paints, water colour paint, oil pastels and pencil crayons. They worked together to develop their skills and create these 'quacking' images.
Year Four Art Club
In Art club, our Year Four children chose to explore portraits. They started with a study of Andy Warhol and loved imitating his 'Pop Art' style. In the following weeks, they then chose to develop their 'Realism' and sketching techniques by learning about the proportions of a human face. We think they've done a great job!
