Personal Development

This is awarded to Scouts who have completed a personal development course within or external to Scouts Australia and have reflected on their attendance/completion with their Unit. It is only worn in the section it was awarded.

Joey Scout Requirement
In Joey Scouts there are heaps of opportunities to develop leadership and personal skills. Achieving your Milestones, assisting and leading activities, being a Unit Leader, helping out another Scout in the Outdoor Adventure Skills or being a mentor in any part of the program are all some of the different ways you can develop yourself.

Cub Scout Section
In Cub Scouts there are heaps of opportunities to develop leadership and personal skills. You could attend a Personal Development or Unit Management Course. This is a day practical course focusing on ‘learning-by-doing.

Scout Section
In Scouting, we develop leadership skills through many elements of the program. We also offer Personal Development and Unit Management focused courses to support developing leadership skills. This course should be a weekend in length, and should be a practical course, centred on 'learning-by-doing'.

Venturer Scout Section
In Scouting, we develop leadership skills through many elements of the program. We also offer Personal Development and Unit Management focused courses to support developing leadership skills. The course should be a weekend in length, and should be a practical course, centred on 'learning-by-doing'.

Rover Section
In Scouting, we develop leadership skills through many elements of the program. We also offer Personal Development and Unit Management focused courses to support developing leadership skills. These courses should also have a practical focus and application, allowing you to be 'learning-by-doing', rather than be a classroom-based course. The course(s) should total at least 30 hours in length.
