OUR MISSION STATEMENT
Scottsdale Prep Theatre Arts is committed to cultivating the hearts and minds of students through the pursuit of Truth, Goodness, and Beauty. We offer a transformative and well-rounded drama experience by meeting our community where they are and offering opportunities to engage beyond their lived stories. We balance excellence with education. We engage with the world, both within the Western tradition and the future history we will create, in the earnest pursuit of being lifelong learners
Our show are the outward facing components that engage our community. While all the other courses under the SPTA umbrella do have performances, they are designed with the education of theatrical processes in mind. Our productions serve as an educational moment as well but focus more on the professional display of what they have learned. Students can be a part of our productions at a variety of grade levels, both in musicals and straight plays. We offer one All-School Musical (Fall), a Middle School Show (Winter), and a High School Show (Spring).
Thespians is the advanced portion of SPTA. Students that apply and are accepted into Thespians can compete and perform with other students from around Arizona and internationally. Thespians focuses as a course on preparing students for those competitions and creating service opportunities for theatre students to connect to the larger theatrical and educational community.
Laughletes are the improvisation portion of SPTA. The focus as a course is to train students to become quick thinkers and performers and build an arsenal of the great improv games that they will then perform for the community. They perform twice a year.
