Don't forget to check the announcements page!
Good morning, Cardinals! We are so excited to welcome your student back to SCMS on Wednesday! We take great pride in the work that we do here at Scott Middle. Our data shows that we provide a safe, rigorous learning environment for all students. The staff is always "giving our best to be the best," and we teach our students to live by those same words. We are excited to partner with you this school year as we work hard to maintain our blue "best" status and work to be a top 10 school in the state. As a mother and grandmother myself, I know that you are sharing your greatest treasure with us, and that is not something that we take lightly. Here's to the best year ever!
Proudly Serving You,
Principal Beckett
Transportation: If you are unsure of bus numbers, times, or stops, please visit https://www.infofinderi.com/ifi/?cid=SCS4PGWBUWQ3. You will enter your street address and zip code. Then, in the drop-down box, click "Scott County Middle." You'll be provided with morning and afternoon bus information.
The car rider line begins at the street between the SCMS field house and the alternative programs building at 1036 Cardinal Drive. Stay on that street that wraps behind 1036 and leads over to the back of SCMS. It will eventually lead you to the front of SCMS, where car riders exit. The first car needs to pull forward to where I stand, at letter A on the sidewalk. This will allow the maximum number of students to exit at one time. Please follow the directions of the staff working at the front of the school. We want students to exit their cars quickly, but safely. Be sure to display your car rider tag in the afternoon. If your student is new and needs a car rider tag, please email: sherribeth.mullannix@scott.kyschools.us
If you are new to SCMS or need to review the car line, a video can be found here: https://bit.ly/SCMSCarRider2025
Breakfast & Lunch: Please complete the free/reduced application at https://www.myschoolapps.com/Application. Those paying reduced or full amounts, please send in cash or a check payable to SCMS for your student's breakfast/lunch account. You can also deposit money electronically at https://www.myschoolbucks.com/ver2/getmain?requestAction=home. Our nutrition team will have breakfast carts stationed at the door upon your student's arrival. We encourage your student to energize with breakfast!
Remember that students cannot enter the building with outside food or beverages. We will ask them to stay out front and finish these items before entering SCMS.
Who do I Contact: Your student's 4th-hour advisory teacher will serve as their mentor and your "go-to" person this school year. Please email them with questions or concerns. Questions about behavior referrals, ISS, and safety should be addressed to Ms. Mullannix. Questions about student data and athletics should be addressed to Dr. Johnson. Principal Beckett handles questions regarding curriculum and instruction and overall operations. If you have problems throughout the year, we encourage you to always start with the teacher. They are licensed professionals who want to partner with you this school year.
Home Events this Week: Tomorrow, girls' basketball will take the court beginning at 5:30. A parent/guardian must be in attendance with the student for the entirety of the event.
Beginning of the Year Forms: It is that time of year to update your current student(s) information for the 25/26 school year. All students must update their Census information and provide Proof of address each school year. You will need to complete the OLR in the Portal to update student and parent information, you can upload the proof of address and/or make changes to your address and household/non-household emergency contacts. This update will ensure that we have the most up to date information on file for your student(s). Once you are logged into the parent portal, look for shortcuts and a button titled “Online Registration” (towards the bottom in the app). If you are having trouble getting into parent portal, please e-mail Mrs. Wilson (kate.wilson@scott.kyschools.us) and include your name and your student’s name.
Separate From the Infinite Campus Forms: If you didn't stop by the cafeteria and complete these at open house, please do so now. https://bit.ly/SCMSBOY2526
Attendance: Attendance matters! Students should be fever-free and vomiting/diarrhea-free for 24 hours before returning. Otherwise, please make every effort to get your student here. If you have obstacles standing in the way of getting your student to school, please let us know. Our Family Resource and Youth Service Center (FRYSC) is here to support you in removing those obstacles. If your student is out, please be sure to send in a doctor's or parent's note when they return. Remember that you have 10 days to get absence notes (parent or doctor) turned in to Ms. Brandi Adams in the attendance office. You can do this by emailing scms.attendance@scott.kyschools.us
Transportation Changes: We need all bus transportation changes IN WRITING to our front office by 11 AM each day. If your student is going to ride home on the bus with another student, we need a note from both parents by 11 am. Phone calls will no longer be accepted. You can write a note or send an email to amy.oliver@scott.kyschools.us. Car rider changes are not needed as car riders do not receive reminder/change notices.
