President's Message

2015–2016 – Mac Maidens

Welcome to Wolfville Curling Club. As President for the upcoming year I look forward to another interesting and successful curling season. The club operates mainly with volunteers and I would like to take this opportunity to thank them all. The club and the community would be a much poorer place without this dedicated support.

The WCC has been in operation for almost eighty years, providing a venue for friendship, competition, and conviviality. It provides an opportunity for people of all ages to participate in a sport that can be a lifelong pastime. The club provides an open and welcoming atmosphere for both experienced and beginner curlers.

The WCC depends on membership fees, facility rentals, and other sources of revenue to provide for all operating costs. Without a dedicated group of volunteers it would not be possible to maintain annual dues at their present level. I would encourage all members to get involved, in some manner within the club, as it will only enhance your experience.

For returning members I would encourage you to spread the word on the enjoyment that can be derived from membership. As our largest source of revenue is dues, it is critical that we maintain and grow our membership numbers.

With local competitions and bonspiels, the club will experience another busy year. Our club has been selected to host the 2016 Canadian Master's Championship in partnership with the Kentville Glooscap Curling Club next April 4-10. This event will bring Women's and Men's teams from every province and territory of Canada for a week of excellent and exciting curling. Planning for and hosting this National event will involve the work and participation of many of our club members as volunteers.

We are delighted to announce that we have conducted a successful capital fund raising project to replace our 60+ year old curling stones. With the generous support of WCC members the new rocks are on the ice and being enjoyed already.

The club maintains its website and I would encourage you to visit the site for information and updates on all activities. For any questions or concerns please contact myself or any of the executive and we will endeavour to respond as quickly as possible.

I look forward to seeing old friends on the ice this year and making new friends as the season progresses. See you on the ice!

Mac
