Vision
The Santiago College Creative Space is the center for new and emerging technologies seeking to provide students, faculty, and staff a place to explore, and develop their creative, and problem-solving skills, in a collaborative and innovative environment.
Mission
The Santiago College Creative Space is a unique area of the school, and space for everyone, that promotes formal and informal learning combined with hands-on experiences seeking to foster innovation, ingenuity, and creativity through the exploration of high and low technologies. The Crative Space provides an inclusive and collaborative environment where users refine ideas, become more engaged with problem solving, and develop leadership skills, such as ingenuity, adaptability, collaboration, and persistence.
The Santiago College Creative Space aims to foster exploration of technologies and cultures, where individuals take ownership of their learning, providing a platform for users to become globally engaged and lifelong learners.
The Santiago College Creative Space aims to:
Be a space for constructive learning or learning by doing.
Foster Inquiry learning, including learning by trial and error, seeing failures as part of the process.
Making reflective design decisions based on real experiences.
Foster collaborative learning, including working in teams by exchanging information .
Coaching and supporting students learning.
Use project-based methodology.
Student Goals:
Think creatively using appropriate approaches to creation techniques, and design cycles.
Apply knowledge to create new and worthwhile ideas.
Inquire, analyze, develop ideas, create solutions and evaluate their own ideas in order to improve and maximize creative efforts.
Reflect, develop, implement, and communicate new ideas to others effectively.
Be open minded and responsive to new and diverse perspectives; incorporate group input and feedback into the work.
Demonstrate originality and inventiveness in searching for solutions and understand the real-world limits to adopting new ideas.
View failure as an opportunity to learn.
Understand that creativity and innovation are long-term cyclical processes (Design Cycle, MYP), where failure and success are accepted as a part of the learning process.
Be open minded in the process of implementing innovations.
Act on creative ideas to make a tangible and useful contribution to the field in which the innovation will occur.
