Songs of Ourselves (Zarin Subah) - Snack Field Note
It is in a person’s daily routine to eat, eat, eat, and eat. We wake up to eat breakfast and sometimes skip it. We wake up, drink water, and start our day. Sometimes we eat lunch. Or sometimes we eat dinner. Or we skip it altogether. What we don’t miss is a quick snack.
Whether it’s cookies or whether it’s chips, both messy and crumbly for the fingers. Just flick it away but it tastes something entirely. One is sweet and the other is salty. Or it could something that hard and tooth crushing candies. Never really a fan of candies but they are good snack when you are bored or want to use an excuse to not talk too much. Or whether it's the sweet and silky taste of chocolates. The best part is chocolates come in many different flavors and it suits each person to their taste, and I like that. A snack that fits you.
It could be something healthy like fruits, yogurt and granola bar. Or it could be the overdosed sugary juices that makes your eye pop because it’s just too much. Maybe it’s the fizziling of the soda in your throat. That weird feeling you get when it goes all the way up to your ears. To prank someone and make a mess, to have have fun and a good laugh.
Snacks are something no kid likes to miss. But it’s not just kids, it's teenagers and adults who eat snacks. Whether you share it or not. Whether you are enjoying yourself or with a friend. Which is why I love snacks more than a regular meal itself. Because when it comes to snacks you can learn about others. You learn to share a part of yourself.
