The small rodents settled right by the Cheese Coalition, creating their own laws and civilization. Mice coexisted with cheese, not having contact despite being neighbors. Though unbeknownst to the Coalition, the rodents had been stealing their product, but the cheese chose to ignore this, confident their economy would tank it.

Then the rats came, and like the mice, they stole cheese from the Cheese Coalition. The cheese suffered from this, finally declaring war on both the rats and mice. The rodents, knowing they couldn’t take on the cheese by themselves, allied themselves with each other, forming the Rodent Republic.
