On your Gene Expression Chart, put one checkmark in the ON column for the GATA-1 gene.
Then, put three check marks in the ON column for the PU.1 gene.
On your model, add one rubberband around your cell.
Using the tip of a toothpick, push several small holes into your cell model.
Your cell is now a monocyte. Look at the chart below to follow your path of development.
A monocyte is a type of white blood cell that can continue to differentiate into a macrophage or a dendritic cell.
How cell differentiate depends on signals inside and outside your body. Monocyte differentiation is not really controlled by how hot or cold you feel, but it could be triggered because of a shortage of macrophages and dendritic cells in your body or because there is an infection somewhere.
