Digital Citizenship Curriculum Introduction

With access comes responsibility. Digital citizenship becomes even more critical as students gain unlimited access to the internet. This site is the K-12 digital citizenship curriculum Schuylkill Valley School District has adopted. The site contains lessons, videos, activities, online modules, posters, assessment, etc. available for our teachers to use to promote digital citizenship in and outside the classroom.

Students will receive instruction on the safe and proper way to use technology and on digital citizenship topics including internet safety, privacy & security, relationships & communication, cyberbullying, digital footprint & reputation, self-image & identity, information literacy, and creative credit & copyright.

In accordance with the Children's Internet Protection Act (CIPA) requirements. , the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) requires schools to educate students about appropriate online behavior.

What is Digital Citizenship?

"Digital Citizenship is a concept which helps teachers, technology leaders and parents to understand what students/children/technology users should know to use technology appropriately. Digital Citizenship is more than just a teaching tool; it is a way to prepare students/technology users for a society full of technology."
