The Summer Youth Employment Program (SYEP) is
the largest city-run youth employment program in the U.S., providing New York City residents ages 14 to 24 with up to six weeks of paid, entry- level work experience and career exploration.
The rate for the 2026 season is $16.50 per hour, generally 25 hours per week for 6 weeks. Also, there is no fee to apply or participate in the summer youth program.
Older youth aged 16-24, earn a minimum wage of $16.50 per hour for up to 25 hours per week.
Younger youth aged 14-15, receive a stipend of up to 700 dollars for participating in project based learning
(roughly $12.50 per week)
