Only At Hillcrest

Hillcrest Highschool: the school that never sleeps! From strange class rules to unforgettable memories, students have plenty to say about what makes their school one of a kind. When they were asked about the weirdest things they’ve seen, Jamesa Simmons recalled a mysterious water leak in the hallway, while Grace remembered an intense lunch period where not one, not two, but three fights broke out!

Classroom policies can be just as surprising. Jamesa said the “10-minute bathroom rule” is the strangest one she’s heard, quoting that when you gotta you just gotta go. Grace then mentioned that one of her classes doesn’t allow soda or gum, and Jeremiah added that in one of his classes, no one can leave for the bathroom until the previous student returns is a rule that definitely tests everyone’s patience, because more often than not, people tend to disappear for a while.

When it comes to unforgettable moments, Hillcrest students have plenty of funny memories. Jamesa laughed about the good times in her 9th-grade biology class with Mr. Joseph, while Grace tenderly  remembered her friends singing and dancing to “I’m a Gummy Bear.” Jeremiah said his freshman-year lunch period was and still remains his favorite. If students could personalize their school even more, Jamesa would replace the school bell, she settled with the interesting choice of a fart sound, Grace would choose the dramatic “Purge” alarm, and Jeremiah would pick any song from the “GOAT ” aka Drake  to keep the vibe upbeat and interesting.

When asked to describe what Hillcrest “smells” like, students had colorful answers: Grace said it would smell “sweet, earthy, and fruity,” while Jeremiah described it as “stinky, fruity, and a little sweet here and there.” Whether it’s laughter in the hallways, chaos in the cafeteria, or the random scent of mystery, we can be sure that life at Hillcrest is always full of surprises.
