People have been gaining popularity for uploading their interests on frequently used social media sites such as Tiktok, Instagram and more for years. Now there are groups of YouTubers known for each and every category who are taking the world by storm! However, certain YouTubers have been called out for rather outrageous behavior throughout the years. Those large subscriber counts then drop by thousands, even millions. They tend to make apology videos to apologize and explain their actions. However, there are some notable examples of some that have made people question if they are genuine or not.
“Guys.. We found something in the forest.” Logan Paul, famously known for vlogging about this life nearly everyday and gained the attention of a younger audience calling them the Logang. In late 2017, he went to Japan and decided to film content for his vlog channel. He went to a forest which had a dark history behind it. Logan Paul ended up filming something which couldn’t be filmed, which outraged Twitter. He later deleted the video 25 hours after. He then released a video in 2018 apologizing for filming in that area, and explained how it was wrong of him. His apology was criticized as not genuine, some people thought it was. That’s up for discussion. Logan Paul still posts regularly but nobody will forget his old scandal.
Colleen Ballinger, famously known for her internet personality ‘Miranda Sings’ has gotten herself into a large amount of scandals over the course of her online career. She took time to collect herself before posting what is known as one of the most infamous Youtube apologies. She used a ukulele to convey her thoughts regarding her cancellation, disregarding her PR’s reservations.. “I couldn’t take her seriously.” was what most people said. Now, just like Logan Paul, nobody could tell if this was genuine or not. She still posts regularly to this day.
Shane Dawson, famously known for his conspiracy theories and podcast was also under cancellation regarding his pet cat Cheeto and his omegle usage. He made an apology video in which he was enraged due to his accusations, alongside his collaboration with problematic creator Jeffree Star. His outrage made him reveal his legal name as Shane “Yaw”. Many people thought this apology wasn't that genuine, but in actuality nobody knows if it was.
Though many Youtubers have recorded apologies throughout history on Youtube, it isn’t always something to be surprised of. These people may be stars behind a camera, but offstage they are still individuals with human lives just like any other person; and just like anyone, they’ll make mistakes whether minor or major. But however we perceive these apologies to be either fake or real, only the Youtuber’s themselves will know the truth, and it’s their choice whether to admit it themselves wholeheartedly or not.
