The year 2035 seems very far away but I can't help but wonder: where will my classmates be in 10 years? Will they be starting up their own company? Making their merchandise? Living in their parents’ basements, procrastinating the next ten years of their lives? Becoming TikTok influencers? Starting a boy band? There's no shame, we’re all on our own journey! As the class of 2025 gets closer and closer to their day of graduation, they can't help but think about their future, since it's practically what everyone asks them about. Most of them aren't sure what they want for dinner tomorrow but here they are answering the same question asked at every family outing, “What are you going to do in ten years?” “What career do you want to pursue?” “When are you going to find a boyfriend/girlfriend?” I mean, this is a lot to think about, because most of 2025 future graduates still feel like they are thirteen years old. I guess you can say the COVID-19 lockdowns altered our brains.
Here are some of the future 2025 class graduates telling us where they think they'll be in 10 years from now:
Saleema Jumai
Saleema is such a bright spirit, known for her sun-kissed hair and infectious laugh. Her love for music is something I admire, whether she's singing along to Mac Miller or Ariana Grande, her voice is something I can listen to all day.
Where does Saleema see herself in ten years?
“Hopefully I will be working in criminology and psychology. I will be working with criminals and analyzing their brains, including neuroscience and just understanding why criminals do what they do and how they view the world. At twenty-seven I would love to go back to school to get my master's in criminology and psychology. I do not see myself living in New York, I want new experiences. I would love to live in California, I see myself enjoying that lifestyle or somewhere in the suburbs. If everything works out. I feel like twenty-seven is the perfect age to get engaged.”
One piece of advice for her future self: “I really hope my future self stops overthinking as much as I do now because I feel like I overthink a lot now. Don't overthink everything and just go with the flow because I'm a planner, I love having everything planned out and having it go my way, when it doesn't I get frustrated and I don't know what to do. Everything will work out in the end, you attract what you deserve, like something might not be going the way you want it to but eventually everything will come together and life will come together as a whole. Just try to live in the moment and be happy.”
Saleema’s goals are inspiring, hearing her talk about her passion for criminology and psychology is truly admirable-she's going to make a real difference. Saleema’s curiosity about understanding the minds of others is truly inspiring. She has a bright path ahead of her., I know you will accomplish everything and so much more that you're capable of.
Haidyn Brown
Haidyn Brown is always ready to lend her support no matter what. Her positivity shines through her actions and words, especially her welcoming smile.
Where does Haidyn see herself in ten years?
“In 10 years I see myself working as an Environmental Lawyer. To become an Environmental Lawyer, I will need to get my Juris Doctor degree. In 10 years, I would have already graduated law school! Within my job I will aid businesses in navigating environmental regulation, ensuring that the law is enforced. In my free time I will spend my time baking, golfing, and going to Broadway shows. I will live in the Upper East Side of Manhattan with my beautiful two pet cats.”
One piece of advice for her future self: “Live in the moment. I have dealt with anxiety, constantly worrying about what the future would hold. As long as you make efforts to bring prosperity to your life, the fruits of your labor will eventually pay off.”
Haidyn, your dream of becoming an Environmental Lawyer is moving. I can picture you navigating the legal world with your passions, all while indulging your love for baking, golfing, and enjoying Broadway, you will see Hamilton live one day! Your advice about living in the moment is a beautiful reminder. I can already see you living your best life in the Upper East Side with your cats. You're gonna be amazing!
Sofian Diouan (Left)
I know most of you have seen Sofian because…I mean, he’s kind of hard to miss. He’s always seen wearing his headphones, lost in his world. But when he talks…be ready for the sassiest remarks.
Where does Sofian see himself in ten years?
“Uhm, In ten years I think I will have determined the field I want to go into. I should have a decent standing in where I want to go in the future, whether it's a company or something I'm doing myself. I think I’ll have my own home and a car, not my dream car but something decent. Maybe I will have a motorcycle too. I don't think I'll have a wife and kids…I'm not gonna lie. I can see myself being single after my sorrowful twenties.”
One piece of advice for his future self: “Live a little. I feel like if I get everything I want, I'll end up not trying anything new or not doing anything crazy. Truth be told, you only live once and I have to enjoy new experiences. If I reached forty or my high thirties and all I did from twenty-eight to thirty-five was just go to work...I mean, I might have the money but I didn't get much experience. Go on a vacation or do something aerobic, and enjoy the youthful years you have left. Enjoy your prime.”
Sofian, your vision for the future is honest and relatable! Your advice to “live a little” is spot on; embracing new experiences is what makes life exciting. Stating you hope you have a decent car and motorcycle shows you have your ambitions set. Balancing your career and personal experiences is very important, some people forget to do that so it's great to see you have a plan ready to go…but in ten years.

I see myself having gotten to know the man I'm going to marry, that's hopefully something that will happen in college if I'm lucky and hopefully, I'm also looking to buy my own home complete with two dogs, a Golden Retriever and a Border Collie.
One piece of advice for her future self: “Do not stress about the small stuff because it may matter right now but it's not something I'm going to be thinking about in the future so don't sweat it.”
