Pouch Prison

Have you ever been bored and uninterested in class, mindlessly scrolling while you waited for the bell to ring? Well, for better or for worse, you can say goodbye to those days.
Hillcrest High School believes that cellphones are interfering with the learning process of students. They are adding a new policy that will take distracted students' phones and store them in a Yondr Pouch so they can focus on learning.
What's actually happening is if you get caught being on your phone, your teacher will give you a warning. If you get caught being on your phone a second time they will call your parents. After a third instance, that teacher will fill out an electronic device removal form and your phone will be pouched.
Many students think that this policy can create new problems in Hillcrest, such as Jaylyn V. who thinks that, “everyones needs technology so that they could have a better learning experience and that privilege shouldn’t be taken from students.”
Some teachers, however, believe that this new policy will do more good than harm. Ms. Sherie, for example, believes that, “some kids do need it if they lack the self control and the kids who don't - they should be unaffected by this new policy.” Do you feel like you are one of those who lack self control?
Hillcrest High School intends to start this new policy on April 21. They have also warned that if they do pouch your phone and its damaged, stolen, or lost they have no responsibility for the damages done to it. Will the students of Hillcrest High School benefit from this new policy, or will it create more problems in our school community? Do you think this will be a good change at Hillcrest or will this be another flavor of the month like the ID cards around our neck?
