After a long and hard junior year, Hillcrest High School has reached June 2024.
Juniors have described this year to be stressful, eventful, and pressuring. Juniors have to look forward to applying to colleges, getting jobs, and writing their college essays. Junior year is the year for high school students that colleges look at.
When asking many Juniors a series of questions about their Junior year experience, many of them said similar things. When asking Juniors, Angelica Nino and Karnlina Balchand, “How has your junior year experience been?” They replied, “The beginning was okay but it got harder, especially the second semester; all the assignments, the tests” and “I feel like this year has been hard because of all of the pressure of completing regents and exams. So it's been tough but it's getting better.” While interviewing several other students, everyone had similar things to say. This year was especially hard with all the pressure that came with it.
The seniors are now leaving and heading off to achieve great things. They have already experienced Junior year along with all the other years and had a few things to say. A Senior named Devonte stated, “Just be yourself and try to enjoy your Junior year so that when you’re a Senior you’re more comfortable and more aware of the things that you like to do so that you’re not in a position where you’re just fooling around. Like you already found yourself and you’re comfortable, just try to find yourself.” Additionally, another Senior named Neveah said, “Don’t skip class and watch the people that you hang around with.” And finally Josiah, another senior said, “I would say to lock in, definitely lock in senior year, and get all your classes and your regents because those are important.” They have been in high school for quite some time now and giving advice to rising Seniors can be very helpful.
These next couple of months, rising Seniors need to focus on where Senior year is going to take them and what they are going to make of it. The year coming to an end means finals, regents and saying goodbyes to our seniors.
