Breaking News! Your Cats Are DYING!
Bird flu, also known as Avian Influenza, is an infection that spreads through birds, cattle, cats and other animals. According to an American Veterinary Medical assistant, Dr. Michael Q. Bailey, “We do have many reports, of cats particularly, there have been some reports of dogs also acquiring Bird Flu. Predominantly from raw food sources.” Another major cause for infection is allowing household cats to roam outside. So unless you want Mr. Whiskers to only have eight lives, you better keep them indoors!
Bird flu first emerged around 1996 and 1997 in Southern China. Since then, it remained mostly unheard of in the United States due to a lack of reported outbreaks. However, in January 2022, 67 cases were reported according to the U.S. Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Bird flu can sometimes spread to humans through contact with the eyes, nose, or mouth. Symptoms include, pink eye, fever, cough, diarrhea, muscle aches, headaches, runny nose and sore throat. These symptoms are often misdiagnosed as the common flu. Though bird flu infections are rare and sporadic with humans, we have seen an alarming influx of cases among house cats.
21 cases of Bird Flu have been detected since January 2025!!! Many cats die every year from this virus.
