This year, our Moot Court team proudly ranked among the top four schools in New York City, making it to the semi-finals in a highly competitive field. Placing third in this competition out of overt 60 schools was an unforgettable milestone for us and for the school. Beyond our placement, our moot court experience was an eventful journey.
In Moot Court, four speakers are chosen–two petitioners and two respondents–who argue in separate rounds against teams from other schools. Once the four speakers were chosen, including two of us writing this article, we worked on perfecting our oral arguments. We spent weeks preparing with our coaches, Mr. Farber, Mr. Potter, and Mr. Ferruso, and the lawyers at K&L Gates. At K&L Gates, we worked closely with experienced attorneys to develop and refine our arguments. Each trip to the law firm was a chance to learn something new. They even made the experience more enjoyable with their hospitality by treating us to pizza lunches during our hard work.
This year, Moot Court was an unforgettable experience filled with fun and learning, resulting in memories that will last a lifetime. One of the highlights of our trip was at Fordham Law School, where we competed against excellent teams from different schools. The opportunity to see so many different viewpoints and creative approaches to interpreting case law was intriguing. Another remarkable experience was the trip to the Thurgood Marshall US Courthouse. The courthouse itself was gorgeous. We can all agree that moot court was fun and highly recommend joining next year! And now, without further ado, here are our favorite moot court picture highlights!
