Is Terrifier, Terrifying?

Many people have drawn the conclusion that Terrfier is not scary but just gorey. According to KBTX News 3, 11 people walked out and 1 person vomited due to the excessive gore of the film. Since the first Terrifier movie reached theaters, audience members have been reported to fall ill. Damien Leone the writer and director of Terrifer actually celebrated these reactions to his movie and stated “It’s a testament to the special makeup fx team. I guess we’ve done our job!”

At Hillcrest High School, we asked students how they felt about this low budget horror film. Angelina, a 12th grade student was asked “Do you think Terrifer was a good quality horror movie?” she answered “Horror movie? No, because I feel like traditionally like it's like, I don't know. I feel like that movie is just like killing. Like there's no purpose. That's like my main problem with it. Like other movies like Freddy Kougar, actually had a purpose. Like I don't know something about his background, whatever. Or like Jason, the Killer. 
I don't know. Like those movies actually had a decent purpose. Like they had a background of what had happened to them, why they're killing like, you know who they're killing like, you know, this and that, but I don't know who the clown is. And all he does is just kill people, like it's kind of lame, you know?” Therefore, does Terrifer receive backlash because it lacks foundation to why Art the Clown is the way he is? Several audience members felt that the movie was plotless and badly written, which is why there is so much gore. The crazy amount of gore was there to cover up the fact that this is a low budget movie.
