The starting of this year's 2024-2025 school year, Hillcrest high school has welcomed back the Emergency Medical Technician program best known as the EMT program. After 11 years of dismissal time from the program, it’s back with Mr. Finkelstein, who is the instructor of the class.
The EMT program embarks in different areas of emergency services like learning about the human body systems, different diseases, learning hands on CPR training, transportation of the sick and injured, etc. This EMT program is a partnership class with Borough of Manhattan Community College that provides the current EMT students with dual-enrollment college credits.
A little about Mr. Finkelstein is that he was once an EMT student and now currently has his paramedic title. He still continues to work with ambulances and emergency medical services along with teaching his first year at Hillcrest high school.
The Borough of Manhattan Community College hopes to invest in their EMT students' education and hope for a great end outcome with certified EMTs of New York. Along with investing, BMCC will provide all 12 EMT students with full uniforms for clinicals, study books as well with E-books to use digitally if preferred.
