Strolling the Halls with Mrs.Frazier

By Nicholas Ruffin

Mrs. Fraizer is currently an English teacher and a hallway dean who has been teaching here at Hillcrest High School for many years. Before she even started her teaching journey, it was a fun fact to find out that she is a Veteran who was in the Navy. During her years as a teacher, she has taught many grades from Freshman, Sophomores, Juniors, and Seniors. She also teaches English 101 and 102 for the College Now program. Currently she's a part of the Humanities SLC.

Mrs. Frazier was always inspired to become an English teacher and had a passion for reading since she was younger. She mentioned to me she was a reader from the very beginning. When she was a kid, she stated she would get in trouble for reading too much because she would read at the dinner table and in class. Getting in trouble never stopped her from her love of literature, which made her want to become a teacher.

As this is her second year being a hallway dean, there have been many challenges she has faced.  One of those challenges is not being able to get a hold of parents when she needs to when the same students are walking in the hallways. Being a hallway dean isn't an easy job, however she plans on overcoming these obstacles.

As a teacher for many years, Mrs. Frazier loves her students and especially her College Now classes. She states that they are the best that Hillcrest has and is an inspiration to work with.

When asked what advice she would give to students she stated “be realistic, but raise your expectation of yourself because no one else will do it for you. You have to strive for more than what's expected.”
