Inside Scoop with Mr. Denton

By Pragon Chowdhury

Valuable members of this school have been isolated from the recognition they deserve. An example of this is Mr. Denton, who is a valued member of the school community. Mr. Denton has been working in Hillcrest for 20+ years and has been helpful to both staff and students of this school.

He decided to commit all his studies into that and become a history teacher. Mr. Denton got into teaching at Hillcrest when he was doing his student teaching. He started to connect with students that he was teaching and soon after that, the school realized his potential and decided to give him a full time role as a teacher. Mr. Denton had thousands of other jobs that he could have chosen. The reason he decided to fill the role of a teacher is because of the academic restraints he had because of his low grades. But the one opportunity that stood out to him was that he could fulfill his role as history teacher. While Mr. Denton is currently a teacher, he was once in our shoes as a student. His time was different from ours as there is more diversity in teachers and students currently rather than when he was a student. While Mr. Denton has worked here for 20+ years  he believes the current leadership has a better perspective as the current principal had multiple roles throughout the school. While Mr. Denton is a valuable member of this school and is helping struggling students. He believes students should focus and study to find motivation in order to be successful and get away from distractions.

 “Success is limited to you!”

Mr. Denton is a high believer in taking the best of opportunities as he has a first hand experience of believing in an opportunity and taking the long road in order to be successful.
