Behind The Scenes With Mrs. Yadgarov

By Krepa Chowdhury

Mrs. Yadgarov is an English teacher here at Hillcrest who has been teaching for the past 3 years. During her time here, alongside her teaching English to students, she has also been teaching Journalism. Currently she's a part of the Teachers of Tomorrow SLC.

Through her time here at Hillcrest, she has been teaching AP Lang, Freshman and Junior English, but she has also had a huge impact in Journalism. She was offered a role as an advisor for Journalism and hearing about the role was so ecstatic. Journalism has been a passion for her since her childhood and she aspired to become a war journalist, but due to her parents restrictions she was unable to fulfill her dreams. Today, she is able to fulfill those dreams through Hillcrest students giving them a platform to express themselves. Student journalists learn responsibility and they learn how to better collaborate with their peers.

Some fun facts that you may not know about Mrs. Yadgarov is that she is a proud dog mom to a 1 year old Golden Retriever named Simba. She is a huge risk taker and she loves to travel. Over the past 2 years, she has visited 10 different destinations! A very shocking discovery is that very soon in the shelves of stores around you there will be a book that Mrs. Yadgarov has written herself!

Her hopes for the future of Journalism is to expand coverage as well as distribution. This is the first year where she has published physical copies of our newsletter. A step for the betterment of Journalism!
