ABOUT THE ARTIST

Renata Romain is a media producer from New York City, with a strong foundation in television and radio programming, and documentary film. She’s committed to producing and championing BIPOC, LGBTQ+, and disability inclusive stories by sharing their untold stories and offering new perspectives on familiar subjects. Her creative aesthetic seeks to strike a balance between documenting reality and honoring the dramatic art of cinema as seen in her short films Homeless Hotel and A Hoop Dream Deferred.

Renata has worked in media for nearly two decades. Her previous experience includes television and radio programming (Court TV), but she is best known for her work as a national morning show host on Sirius XM's Hip Hop Nation from 2008 to 2018, where she honed her interviewing skills and attracted some of the most influential figures, ranging from music superstars to Hollywood A-listers.

Renata believes in using the power of non-fiction film to entertain, educate and empower. She formed the production company Romain Creative Media in 2015 and has a masters degree in documentary film from New York University.
