SVA Mission

• All staff will participate in 2-3 inquiry cycles during the school year using the Plan-Do-Study-Act (PDSA) protocol. 

• All staff will analyze students’ data and inform students and families of their academic, behavioral, and attendance data by conferencing with students and families.

• To prioritize intercultural awareness and expression through the Arts and athletics within the school day and extracurricular school life to support our core vision.

• Providing all students with social-emotional support through the Second Step curriculum that includes the CASEL core competencies: social awareness, self-awareness, self-management, relationship skills, and responsible decision-making. 

• To infuse digital technology throughout the curriculum as a means of differentiating the learning experience for our students, including comprehensive, tech-based approaches to formative assessment that directly inform instructional implementation and development. 

• Exposing students to using cutting edge technology to create multimedia projects and develop their computer literacy skills. Introducing students to diverse technology careers with hands-on experience. 

• Partnering with Community-Based Organizations, Westhab and NYEdge to increase family engagement and provide additional support for our students and our communities.
