“Where were you on 9/11?” Most of us immediately know the answer to this question. It feels like it happened a lifetime ago, but at the same time feels like it JUST happened. On that day, I was working as a forensic DNA analyst at the NYC Office of Chief Medical Examiner. For the past 15+ years, I have taught my students how we used cutting-edge DNA testing to identify the missing and how the events of that day continue to impact recovery workers. This session will include how DNA identification of mass fatality victims was carried out and my personal experiences playing a small role in this monumental task. Attendees will also receive an overview of digital resources and lesson plans available through the 9/11 Memorial and Museum.
