2022 CS Teachers Con
All educators in NYC are invited to register for the annual Computer Science Teachers Conference!
The virtual CS Teachers Conference celebrates K-14 NYC teachers with a series of breakout sessions, a keynote speaker, and networking opportunities. The CS Teachers Con is a space for NYC CS educators to deepen their computer science knowledge, empower one another, and share best practices.
The 2022 Teachers Con was a symposium on teachers' power to shape play and learning. CS holds an important place in our educational ecosystem, it is a place where students can come to play, innovate and experiment. As Maria Montessori said, Play is the work of children. Play helps students retain information and immerse themselves into what they are learning and how they can use what they learn to empower others. We cannot underestimate the impact of CS educational opportunities on a student's intellectual and social development.
As teachers, we too are participating in an act of play as we design learning experiences that cultivate joy. We build lesson plans to help students see what they can become. We emphasize play as a means to develop relationships and a community of learning that fosters taking risks and being brave.

We invite all NYC educators to submit a proposal to lead or co-lead a workshop at the annual CS Teachers Con! We’re looking for the next round of educators to share their expertise with those new and experienced in the CS education community. Workshop presenters have the opportunity to frame the conference with their knowledge, expertise, and lessons learned.

More About Maureen Reilly:
About the Keynote Presenter:
As a NYC teacher who now holds the title of Senior Manager Specialist at Lego, Maureen Reilly focuses her work on the intersection of play and learning. As a leader in this space, Reilly shared insights on the imperative of building play into our lessons and our educational ecosystem at the 2022 CS Teachers Con.
Maureen Reilly designs playful learning experiences for children to express themselves using hands-on materials and digital technology for LEGO Education. She has co-created several LEGO Education products including the newly released BricQ Motion. Before joining LEGO Education, Maureen was a primary classroom teacher, a STEAM specialist, and a robotics coach. She has led professional development for teachers around the world in playful learning, creative confidence, and social-emotional development. You may have seen Maureen dressed in costume and leading the crowd as Master of Ceremonies for FIRST Robotics competitions. Maureen believes that "every child can design, engineer, code, and bring their imaginative ideas to life. It's my responsibility as a product designer to make these experiences accessible and the dreams attainable." Maureen lives in Billund, Denmark, home of the LEGO Company.
