Atlas of Ideas - Lab Class 102

Our lab class is an invitation for staff members to see teaching and learning in action. If you are expecting to see PERFECTION, you are wrong!

What you will see:

You will see a lot of exploration in how our students learn best and how we (Ms. Rom and Ms. Emile) use each lesson to inform the next. You will gain a lot of ideas on how to model lessons for students, using translanguaging strategically, integrating language and content objectives for each lesson, pacing that is specific to your student population, creating systems and routines to make your life easier and your students'' lives easier :), using data to group students and differentiate materials. All of these resources and models are available for you after your class visit.

How to sign up:

Please feel free to visit the periods listed on the form. To streamline visitations, we please ask that staff complete this form by selecting the date, period, and instruction they are interested in seeing. The lessons you see are all in exploratory phases because that's what we do as learners. Feedback will be appreciated at the end of your visits.

"I liked Mild/Spicy/Hot differentiation. Student could choose the level. Minimal change so very efficient."

The partnership between you two - sharing the instruction, sharing the evaluating, the assessing of the students. You have such beautiful resources, slides, decorations everywhere, your materials are amazing. Students are clearly engaged, focused, serious, eager to learn, working hard. I LOVE how the closing ties directly to the do now and the mini lesson. Like a beautiful orchestral piece!!"

Routines and environment were enjoyable.

The group setting was excellent and having students moved to different groups gave them the opportunity to work and gain different perspective from other students.

The seamless structures, use of that digital timer, routines, it all moves like a well oiled machine. What a delightful class, lesson, group!!

Students are aware of their own progress, allowing them to have more agency in their learning.
