Wood Carving lessons online

Hi there! My name is Alexander Grabovetskiy and I am a professional woodcarver. I have a question for you - would you be interested in learning my approach to wood carving, tool sharpening, and the carving process itself? If so, let me know and we can get started!

for Beginners

for Competent

for Expert

The Alexander Grabovetskiy School of Wood Carving is a non-profit organization that offers video-based wood carving lessons to people of all skill levels. Whether you're a beginner who's never picked up a carving knife before, or a seasoned pro looking to take your skills to the next level, the School of Wood Carving has something to offer everyone.

Welcome to my woodcarving shop!

I'm glad to have you here. Take a look around and let me know if you have any questions. I'm always happy to help.

Close your eyes and imagine you're in my workshop with me. You can hear the sound of my chisel carving into the wood, and you can smell the rich, earthy scent of the wood as it shavings curl into spirals. But now it's time for a reality check. These lessons won't take you to my workshop, but you can take them from me.

I'm excited to announce that I will be offering a European-style apprenticeship program right here in the comfort of my modern home. This is a unique opportunity to learn classic European techniques from a master craftsman in a cozy, intimate setting.

How does the School of Woodcarving work?

The School of Woodcarving is a training institution that provides courses on woodcarving and other related topics.

All the training is online, contained in the private Woodcarving School non for profit, member-only site based on monthly or annual contributions. Members can view the training videos, take notes, and submit assignments.

I release a new woodcarving lesson every week to ensure constant growth and improvement in technique. You can ask questions and engage with Alexander's technique, or follow along and try to mimic it yourself.

When you start filling your house with art, and all your friends can't help but compliment you on your new found creative streak, it is time to learn the techniques that distinguish a master wood carver from a hobbyist. Alexander's advanced woodcarving lessons and his openness about how he approaches woodcarving can help you take your skills to the next level.

How does woodcarving school membership works?

I want to build a community of woodworkers who can help and guide each other to become better at their craft. As a member, you will have access to an ever-growing library of woodworking videos and pattern drawings that you can use to improve your skills.

I teach woodcarving through lessons based on practical projects. More advanced lessons focus on replicating woodcarvings from real life.

Some projects I take on are relief carving and some statues, or if you wish to call it sculpture. Like Lion Head corbels, I had to carve for a client. It was a very interesting project, especially carving the facial features of a lion.
