About ME

Here's what you got to know about the guy in the front of the classroom:

High School: St Croix Falls, Class of 2001

United States Navy, 2001-2006

Undergraduate Studies: University of Wisconsin-Stout, Class of 2011

My wife Emily is also an alum of St. Croix Falls, class of 2004.  We have three wonderful children (Oliver, Dahlia, & Magnolia) along with several fur babies.  We have two dogs as well as several other farm animals such as chickens, ducks, beef cows, sheep, and pigs.  We have never raised goats but will be trying that adventure out as well soon.

Other life activities: I've been on the city council as an elected official in St. Croix Falls, coached Saints baseball since 2007 at different capacities, and run a hobby farm here in St. Croix Falls.  I taught three school years at Amery High School as a Technology and Engineering Education teacher before temporarily leaving education for a manufacturing career at Andersen Windows & Doors.  I also own a business selling sheds and portable buildings at the end of my driveway.

In my personal time I enjoy to hunt for pheasant/ whitetails, ice fish, and play, coach, or watch baseball.  Watching the Minnesota Twins are my passion, with close seconds going out to both the Green Bay Packers and Wisconsin Badgers.  We are extremely busy people as my wife and I both own our own businesses besides our "day jobs".  Emily owns Sunflower Hill Wedding and Event Venue.  I recently stood up my own LLC, Saint City Sheds just this past summer.

Philosophy of Education

I believe that all learners can experience relative success in the areas of technology and engineering education.  Regardless of what upbringing you come from or who you are, there is a chance to learn in my classroom.  Instruction will come in a variety of ways ranging from the classical Socratic format to  hands on.  I value the lessons learned from failure as much as the successes achieved as mastery of a concept occurs.
