My name is Scott Corscadden. I have worked in the Life Skills program at Georgian Bay District Secondary School since its inception, and at Midland Secondary School before that since 1998. The goal of our program is to support students with developmental disabilities in the areas of literacy, numeracy, social skills, vocational skills, and practical life skills, as well as to provide functional community-based experiences to put those skills into practice. Every student is encouraged to develop self-help and self-advocacy skills that will benefit them in the future. I partner with local community agencies to help students prepare for various transitional goals and work with students to maximize their independence and provide the foundation for them to contribute to their community upon their completion of high school.
