Indigenous Resource offers students a quiet place to work, eat lunch, and have a laugh. It is also a hub where students can find literature written by Indigenous authors, find out about and engage in cultural activities and programs, connect with Knowledge Holders, receive extra help with their school work, and receive information regarding post-secondary education. Students can connect with our community's Indigenous Social Worker, Graduation Coach, Student Advisers, and one of the school's Student Success Teachers; each offer culturally informed practices supporting students' physical, cognitive, emotional and spiritual well-being and education at GBDSS.
Dr. Podolski is a Student Success teacher at GBDSS. His focus is on school community well-being and academic achievement. He works closely with Ruth Quesnelle, the school’s Indigenous Student Adviser, specifically with GBDSS’s Indigenous student population, to learn with students and collaborate with students, teachers, and staff to create a school community that is emotionally, cognitively, physically, and spiritually healthy.
