At GBDSS we are dedicated to honouring Indigenous history and culture and committed to moving forward in the spirit of reconciliation and respect with the First Nation, Métis and Inuit people.
As of the 2021-2022 school year, all Grade 11 English courses focus on Indigenous literature, and we strive to embed the spirit of reconciliation within all of our courses.
In the Grade 9 Locally Developed English course (ENG1L), and the *NEW* Grade 9 de-streamed English course (ENG1D) we are committed to offering diverse and inclusive reading choices.

Four English credits are required for graduation.
English will be offered using the Academic course and course code (ENG1D) for the 2022-23 school year. The Applied course (ENG1P – English, Grade 9, Applied) will expire at the end of the 2021-22 school year.
