A Program with Choices

The Building Property Maintenance (Electrical/Plumbing & Heating) program allows students that are unsure of what building trade to pursue to experience all of them. Students will start by learning the basic skill-sets of Electrical, Plumbing, Carpentry, and Masonry. By program completion, students will have had the opportunity to master all the basic skill-sets and gain experience in HVAC and Welding.  Real World Experience 

Building Property Maintenance (Electrical/ Plumbing & Heating) students will work together with Carpentry & Cabinetmaking students to build a 2,200 square foot single family home. Building Property Maintenance(Electrical/Plumbing & Heating) students also work on build, repair and improvement projects throughout the district complex. The students experience all facets of the construction process giving them real world hands-on skills that few students ever get to experience. Learn at Your Own Pace

Building Property Maintenance (Electrical/Plumbing & Heating) is a competency based program that empowers students to learn at their own pace. The program curriculum is designed in a way that students, with the help of their instructor, can take the time they need to learn the skill-sets of each competency in a project. An evaluation sheet is used to help the student understand what industry standards need to be met as the student completes each project.

The course outline gives a minimum expectation of what must be completed to receive a skills certificate from the Pennsylvania Department of Education (projects with a POS#). There are many value added projects available to students wanting to learn all they can during their time in the program (projects without a POS#). Each tab gives a different timeline depending on the students enrollment period.

All students are enrolled in the online Schoology Building Property Maintenance(Electrical/Plumbing & Heating) classroom so they can learn whenever it is convenient for them. Electronic curriculum allows students to receive immediate feedback from their online learning activities, which greatly improves the learning process. Information has been developed into multiple forms to enable all types of learners to be successful.
