The Marion Cilker Conference aims to provide educators with dynamic, hands-on engagement strategies with master teachers and teaching artists in the visual and performing arts and art-integrated curriculum. The workshops offer the opportunity for participants to experience the arts, to discuss the arts standards addressed in the lessons, and to begin to make connections and applications to various subjects of their grade-level curriculum.
Marion Cilker Conference Goals are:
Demonstrate and engage participants in a dynamic, hands-on arts-integrated learning experience. Preference will be given to engaging, hands-on workshops.
Articulate and demonstrate explicit connections between the California Arts Standards, National Core Arts Standards, the California Common Core State Standards, and the Next Generation Science Standards.
Incorporate learning, with particular emphasis on cultural inclusion.
Share effective instructional methods and strategies for high quality arts integration and assessment in the classroom
Provide workshop notes, lesson plan, and/or take-away resources for further exploration that will be posted online
Offer suggestions for ways in which the participant can apply and adapt their learning to meet the needs of their current and future students
