Kateri Tekakwitha

All Saints Day - November 1, 2016

As we celebrate All Saints Day in our classes or schools, take a few minutes to share Saint Kateri Tekakwitha's story. Kateri Tekakwitha was canonized as the First Nation North American Saint on October 21, 2012 by Pope Benedict XVI. In Canada, her feast is celebrated on April 17. She is a symbol of the link between Catholicism and the Indigenous people of Canada. As patron saint of ecology and the environment, Kateri teaches us how to love and respect the created world and care for it.
