Accounting I is an introductory course to understanding basic accounting principles. Students will acquire an understanding of the accounting cycle, key accounting terminology, and the financial statements used by actual businesses. Students will also use the knowledge and skills they acquire throughout the course to practice with a real-world simulation as accountants.

Introduction to CAD (Computer-Aided Design)
In this hands-on course, students will learn the basics of Computer-Aided Design (CAD) to create and modify 2D and 3D digital drawings. Using industry-standard software, students will explore design principles, technical drawing, and modeling techniques used in engineering, architecture, and manufacturing.

Content Description: This course is a one semester course for introduction to computer science concepts (digital processes and protocols) and coding. This course is designed for a broad and diverse range of students, so experience is not required. Students will use online sites to work with real-world examples from the computer science and coding industry; students will discuss ethical dilemnas and digital citenzenship. Students will not only enhance their coding skills by building simple apps, but they will also have the opportunity to improve their problem solving skills. Coding is designed to 1) Increase interest in computer programming/coding, 2) Understand the basic fundamentals of computer science and 3) Apply coding skills to real-world problems. Topics covered include binary representation, variables, user interface design, conditionals, and looping.

Topics covered may include: writing and using functions, introduction to data structures (lists, arrays), debugging and troubleshooting code, and creating interactive projects and applications

In this course students will learn practices and principles of digital imaging and photographic manipulation using Adobe Photoshop. Students will gain hands-on experience with the tools and techniques used by artists and designers to create effective and sophisticated digital imagery for print and web publication. The course covers photo editing, color correction, layers, selection and masking tools, blending modes, filters and more to enhance digital images and create special effects.
Objectives:
Use computerized layering techniques to apply special effects, filters and blending modes.
Define and apply the basic functions of pixel selection, painting, and editing tools.
Use color correction techniques to adjust for lightness, contrast, brightness, color saturation, levels, curves, and color balance.
Utilize digital editing tools to manage layers, transform selections, and work with selection masks.
Convert an image for monitor display and use on the World Wide Web.
Explain the difference between raster and vector graphics and the computer software appropriate for each.

All these questions and more will be answered in Business Communications. Students will use a variety of different technological devices and applications to enhance their learning experience. The course consists of: creating a student newscast, creating cool items using the 3-D printers, creating stunning videos, learning about a variety of graphic file formats, and more!

Content description: This course will train students in the rules of basic journalism and law of the student press. Students will periodically compose, design and produce writing to be published. Interviewing techniques, writing styles, layout and design principles utilizing the computer will all be included in the course. Students will also be involved with helping to develop and prepare the school yearbook for the current year. Because of the levels of writing involved, it is recommended that students possess strong writing and editing skills before taking this class.
