Students moving from 5th grade to 6th grade have the opportunity to learn one of the 3 world languages offered at our middle schools. This website is designed to guide students and their families in the decision-making process.
Steps to Choosing a Language in Middle School
1. Learn about our language options.
2. Explore classroom videos and get a feel for what student learning looks like in each class.
3. Complete the course registration in school in StudentVUE with 5th grade teachers by _________, to choose your languages.

What to consider when choosing a language?
Language learning at SCASD middle schools involves interactive storytelling, cultural exploration, and fun!
Choose a language that interests you the most! Learning any language has tremendous benefits for your brain.
There are no "wrong" languages to choose: all 3 languages offered lead to unique opportunities and experiences.
Which language sounds most fun to you? Choose languages that motivate you the most.
Which cultures interest you most? Which countries would you like to visit?
What factors should not impact your decision?
