Pour qu'un enfant grandisse, il faut tout un village.
Là où il n'y a pas d'amour, il n'y a pas de joie.

What do classes look like? What will I be able to do by 8th grade?
7th grade students Emma, Lisel, Clara, and Maggie are retelling a story about a trick that a brother plays on his sister. They begin by telling the story from a series of pictures and switch to a question and answer sequence at the end.
In this sequence, 8th grade students are learning new vocabulary through associating gestures with the words they are reading and hearing. This particular histoire is about Loïs Maillou Jones, an African-American artist living in Paris during the 1940's, sous l'occupation.
This story retell is about two American students finding their way around Paris. 8th grade students Andreas and Esra, are using the French structures acquired during the Interactive Storytelling video below. They also include cultural places, as well as the infamous Parisian métro in their presentation.
6th grade students are presenting a play based upon a dialogue that they wrote in groups. The vocabulary comes from an Apples to Apples game or "Pommes à Pommes" that they played in French. The game allows for students to explore the vocabulary for deeper understanding, also leaving room for lots of laughs and creativity!
8th grade students are completing a fishbowl activity about their past weekend activities.
Mon histoire: I am a very passionate and dedicated teaching professional who enjoys immersing students in the French culture, history, food, and language. For every unit that we cover, there are food days to explore the current culture. I am always reinventing my lessons to stay current with teaching practices and changes in the French culture. I love to travel. Not only have I been to France, but I have also toured Italy, England, Canada, and Austria.
Post my junior year, I took a year long sabbatical leave to teach English in the French high school, Jean-Prévost, in Normandy, France. There, I met my husband, Djamel, who took me to the Louvre on my birthday. 🥳 We currently reside in Boalsburg with our two boys, Aemine and Samir. We also have Ainslie, a lovely, energetic Border Collie. 🐶
I have been teaching French since December 2008. I received my B.S. degree in Secondary French Education from the Pennsylvania State University. Allez les lions! 🐾 During my junior year, I completed a year long integrated study abroad program at the Université Paul Valéry in Montpellier, France.
