Welcome to Summer Reading on Home Base!
From May 9th - September 12th, kids can visit the summer zone in Scholastic Home Base, a completely free digital destination which offers stories, characters, games, and a community of readers.
Participation is a fun and easy way for kids to earn free books. They simply read a designated number of books – library books, books borrowed from friends or books bought at Barnes & Noble – write about their favorite part in our Reading Journal, and bring a completed Reading Journal to a Barnes & Noble bookstore. Children then choose their free book from the books listed on the Reading Journal and collect their free book from a store near them during July and August.
Redeem this certificate and get 10 FREE Play Points with any food purchase.
Children have from June 1 to September 5, 2025, to complete the challenge. The rules are simple: pick 12 books, read them independently or with a family member, and record them using the official Reading Log. Once completed, participants are asked to reflect on their favorite book or character—either by writing or drawing—and submit their work along with the signed form.
What makes this challenge extra special? Every child who finishes will receive a personalized certificate and a small prize. Plus, those who submit their completed forms by the deadline will be entered into a nationwide drawing for a trip to the Nation’s Capital, accompanied by a parent or guardian.
Join our Summer Reading Bingo game for K through 1st grade or 2nd through 5th grade. Complete any one row, column, or diagonal to receive a prize. Finish the entire card and receive a book to keep!
