The name Rumpelstilzchen in German means literally "little rattle stilt", a stilt being a post or pole that provides support for a structure. A rumpelstilt or rumpelstilz was consequently the name of a type of goblin, also called a pophart or poppart, that makes noises by rattling posts and rapping on planks.

Fairy Tale Final

Why do you think parents are not usually present in Fairy-Tales?

(Keep in mind most of our main characters are meant to be in their teens)

In Class, we compared two versions of many different fairy tales We read the “Cinderella” tale and saw the Disney version. Since these two stories are meant to essentially be the same, do you feel that the main character of Cinderella is the same person in both stories?

What is your favorite Fairy-Tale? Why? What makes this tale better than others?

(Please note an answer of “because it’s cool” or “because I always have” will not do. I am looking for analysis and evidence like we discussed in class)
