All about me…
My name is Jennifer VanLouvender and I am the Elementary School Counselor here at Arlington Elementary. I have been working as the School Counselor here since 2000. I earned a dual Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice and Psychology from Lycoming College and earned my Master’s Degree in Elementary School Counseling from Marywood University. Since working at Arlington, I also earned a second Master’s degree in Counseling Psychology from Canyon College. On a personal note, I currently live in the Pocono’s with my husband, daughter, son and two cats. I enjoy traveling, reading, swimming and the outdoors. I look forward to working with you and your family.

Guidance at Arlington is designed to be a preventative and needs focused program. Teacher, parent, and student initiated referrals aid in the process of meeting the counseling needs of the student population.

Counseling Goals at Arlington:
To guide students through social, emotional, and academic challenges
To help students build self confidence and develop to his/her full potential
To encourage students to be lifelong learners
To consult with parents, teachers, administrators and community agencies to better understand and meet the needs of students through a collaborative effort
To incorporate a comprehensive guidance curriculum with regard to life long skills, social skills, and study skills
To help identify students with special needs and ensure an appropriate educational program
To provide crisis intervention when necessary
To help prepare students for career readiness through career exploration
Specific Services provided:
Individual and group counseling
Consultation
Providing parents with helpful resources
Social skills education
Classroom lessons
Screenings for the gifted process
Team member for our Multi Tier System of Support and Special Education
