Watch both videos of different versions of Pirates of the Caribbean
Answer these questions after you have listened to both videos:
What instruments are being played in the videos?
Which version did you enjoy more? 2 cellos or the cello quartet (4 cellos)?
Why did you like that group better?
Which group sounded more intense? Why?
What do you think of each location for the videos?
Did the locations contribute to the feel of "pirates"?
Did you notice in the second video (with 4 cellos) what they are in? Is it really the inside of a ship? Or something else??? ;)
Find enough space in your house where you can move around and dance with Rujeko, the dancer.
Upload a 30 second recording to our Google Classroom of your favorite part from the video.
If you don't have a drum, NO WORRIES!
Grab a pan, pot, empty trashcan...whatever you have in your house than can be used as a drum!
Upload a 30 second recording to our Google Classroom of your favorite part from the video.
Enjoy and watch all kinds of different birds perform Magic Flute "Papageno/Papagena" Duet by Mozart
Follow the directions on our Google Classroom assignment.
You will be researching a few things about your composer you chose in last week's assignment (Composer Project - Part 1)
If you didn't pick a composer last week, use this link to pick someone: https://www.classicsforkids.com/composers/composers_country.php?src=map&country=USA
Click this link and pick a composer you are interested in: https://www.classicsforkids.com/composers/composers_country.php?src=map&country=USA
A few composers that I love is George Gershwin, Eric Whitacre, Aaron Copland, and Leonard Bernstein. You can check them out or pick someone else!
Google 3 of their pieces they have written. Listen to all 3 pieces. Figure out what piece is your favorite.
Listen to the piece 1 more time. (I would recommend listening to it more than once.)
On our Google classroom, fill out the template and submit your work. It will be called Composer Project: Part 1
Here's a template to follow:
The composer I chose is ________. My favorite piece that my composer composed is ________ because __________. The link of the piece I chose is _________. Here is a picture of my composer: __________.
***You will not get full credit if all 5 details are not included. Submit on our Google classroom.***
Enjoy listening to 5 different levels of Despacito on the piano
Continue practicing our pieces from last week. We will be uploading recordings next week.
Strings: Fancy Fiddles measures 29-45
Woodwinds/Brass: Samba la Bamba measures 9-27 (with 1st & 2nd endings!)
Follow along with my step-by-step tutorial first
When you have it down, try it with the second video for some fun percussion in the background!
HAVE FUN :)
Next, find your specific instrument area to see what your 2nd assignment is
Record measures 1-29. Upload your recording to our Google classroom.
Find the music with the tab below. I have added note names and fingerings to help you remember.
Practice with this link, but it's a little fast: https://www.jwpepper.com/sheet-music/media-player.jsp?&type=audio&productID=2266153
Record measures 27-end. Upload your recording to our Google classroom.
Find the music with the tab below. I added a tab with fingering charts. Use that to write in fingerings/positions for the notes you are unsure of.
Practice with this link: https://www.jwpepper.com/sheet-music/media-player.jsp?&type=audio&productID=2480655
Work on the worksheet I attached with the tabs below. Make sure you pick your clef.
Treble Clef - violin, flute, clarinet, trumpet
Bass Clef - cello, string bass, trombone
This is similar as last week's worksheet BUT you need to create the words yourself AND draw in the notes for each letter.
Use the scale to help you come up with words. You can only use the letters of the scale. And you can repeat letters!
Upload your work to our Google classroom. You can take a picture of it or upload as a file. The assignment is called "Codemaker"
Enjoy this video! It's a twist on a famous classical piece, Hungarian Rhapsody No. 2 by Liszt and a pop song, Something Just Like This!
Work on the worksheet I attached with the tabs below. Make sure you pick your clef.
Treble Clef - violin, flute, clarinet, trumpet
Bass Clef - cello, string bass, trombone
You will need to decode each measure which spells a word.
Use the scale to help you decode the name of each note. You will know it is correct if it spells a word.
Hint: first word spells FACE (treble clef) and FADE (bass clef)
Upload your work to our Google classroom. You can take a picture of it or upload as a file. The assignment is called "Codebreaker"
Find someone to dance with and dance along with the video.
