Writer’s Workshop – We continue to work on our first unit called Launching and Crafting a True Story
We have a huge bank of ideas to write about. We are now taking these ideas and writing journal entries. As students write journal entries they are learning to become storytellers on paper by:
Using a storyteller’s voice and not a reporter’s voice
Adding interesting leads
Developing the heart of the story
Adding dialogue and elaboration
Math- Investigations Unit 2 Travel Stories & Collections: In this unit, students learned to:
Fluently add within 1000 using strategies and algorithms based on value, properties of operations, and/or the relationship between addition and subtraction.
Solve and model multi-step word problems within 1000 with add to, take from, or compare structures by creating a coherent representation of the problem and then solve
Add multiples of 10 to a 3-digit number
Subtract multiples of 10 from a 2 or 3-digit number
Science/Social Studies:
We have wrapped our first social studies unit on Movement & Migration. We will be starting our first science unit, Weather & Climate. In this unit we will learn:

What is climate?
