FREE BOOK GROUP!

Join other book lovers on Fridays, beginning April 3rd. 11am-12pm

Led by Nancy Glazer

"In this class, which will meet for one hour every Friday morning, 11:00-12:00, we will read and discuss 3 works of contemporary fiction. We will spend 1-3 weeks on each book, depending on the length of the book. During our virtual meetings, conducted via Zoom web conferencing, I will start the ball rolling with some discussion questions and invite class participants to share questions of their own.

I am an avid reader and have been involved in book groups for more than 20 years. Based on my own reading and a search of well-loved books of contemporary fiction, I've selected the following books for us to read. All three are recent publications, and all are available on Kindle. One is available from the NJ e-Library but is currently wait listed. I've included links to Amazon descriptions of each book."

1) News of the World—Paulette Jiles—Kindle $11.99, 192 pages; NJ eLibrary, wait list. https://www.amazon.com/News-World-Paulette-Jiles/dp/1511356812

2) The Plover—Brian Doyle (Kindle sample)—Kindle $9.99, 352 pages. https://www.amazon.com/Plover-Novel-Brian-Doyle/dp/1250062454/ref=sr_1_1?dchild=1&keywords=The+Plover&qid=1584910722&s=books&sr=1-1

3) A Single Thread—Tracy Chevalier—Kindle $13.99, 336 pages. https://www.amazon.com/Single-Thread-Novel-Tracy-Chevalier-ebook/dp/B07NKP38QJ/ref=sr_1_1?dchild=1&keywords=A+Single+Thread&qid=1584910782&s=books&sr=1-1

The class will begin on April 3. The first class may not go for an entire hour, but we'll spend the time getting to know something about each other and sharing our thoughts about how best to discuss the books. The first book on the list, News of the World, by Paulette Jiles, will be scheduled for the first full book discussion on April 10.
